Decorating Easter Cookies I - Easter Bunnies

Being a Catholic I have been celebrating Easter all  my life but now that I live here in Israel I feel almost lost because no one around me knows what is Easter.

In an attempt to introduce my kids to my religion and to get them to experience the joy I feel at these festive times I do celebrate in a small way Christmas, Easter and other holidays with my little family at home.

Here are Easter Bunnies I made this year.
I usually always try to do something new when decorating but there are somethings you just keep with the way they are meant to be.... should I say the way mom usually makes them?

I did some the traditional way, outline and fill Royal Icing .
And some using my Rolled Royal Icing. (didn't have enough so used the Rolled royal icing)

Here are some pictures I took to share with you.
These are my Vanilla Sugar Cookies recipe with Royal Icing.
As you see, I like to keep it simple. I use parchment cones and just snip the ends for easy clean up.
I do not make separate icing for outline and filling.
Sometimes in winter (in summer they bleed) I outline all cookies with black or white and then make only the flood icing.
For the flood icing I make it a bit thicker than usual flood. Not really a 10 sec more like a 15 secs.
Just a matter of preference. I can be a bit impatient when decorating cookies so this kinda slows me down a little. Not sure it makes sense to you but...... never mind. (just preference)

Royal Icing - Simple and easy
Out line

Ears - If you do the smaller parts first, the advantage is that your wait time is shorter. The ears dry off in  15 minutes so your can flood the rest and your almost done.
 Flood
Details done after about an hour or two. You can see that the cookie is still not completely dry.

These below are done with Rolled Royal Icing.

I started my Easter Cookies a bit early this year because soon it's going to be pass over here in Israel and that's a busy holiday too.
I hope you liked them, Thanks for stopping by.
Until next time,
