Boobs Cake

How to make Boobs Cakes
This week I made two of these.

Just to give you a quick idea on what I did.
For the Pan I used just a bowl.  Most people are so compelled in buying the right pan for the right cake that they end up with so many of these special novelty cake pans in their home and don't know what to do with it once the cake is done.

As a cake decorator most often I would end up doing a cake more than once. However, I still prefer not to buy these special pans.
First, it requires the exact quanity of recipe,  so if a customer wants 24 servings and the pan is meant for 38 – Oops….
Second, though i would make the same cake again I want to make it different than the first not the exact same.
My last boob cake was make as a joke by a goup of 50 year old ladies for a girl friend and so I was told to make it old and retired... (you know what i mean?) Definitely baked it in this but had to carve off a lot.

For this cake I used these simple home bowls (oven safe) and then just shaped them to the desired shape. Once you choose a bowl like this, it’s pretty much done in terms of shaping.  Just the flat dome on top required to be rounded off.

When using glass baking pans its best to reduce the oven temperature – I usually bake my cakes at 170C but glass I bake at 160C and I always use a baking strip for glass.
I cut a piece of foil and place a wet paper hand towel init. They just close the foil around the bowl and tie it with a clean kitchen twine. (the one you use to tie your turkey legs - works well)

For the fondant
Flesh color - I used wilton Ivory gel color for one and for the second I added a dash of peach (less than a drop) gel to color the fondant.  For the nipples I added a bit pink to the flesh color fondant.
Next, I Rolled a large sheet of the flesh color and draped both cakes all at once.
For the Bright Pink - I rolled a strip of the bright pink, textured it, and placed it on the cake. For the top you do not need to cut, the fondant will fall in the curves of the cake and take shape, then just cut off the extra from around.  Then just finished the rest of the design.

For the white – I cut a strip, placed it on the cake, marked the triangle I needed to cut. Took it off the cake, cut the excess and placed it back on. Sounds complicated but it’s easier than you think. Then I used some lace cutter to cut the lace and finished the design.

Feel free to ask any questions or comment.
Until next time. Have fun cake decorating.
Veena

  1. I'm going to try this soon for my husband's birthday. I have two glass bowls at home that are oven safe. I didn't realise I could use those.
I am not comfortable with fondant but have always wanted to try. I love how smooth fondant looks.
You have a nice blog and you explain really well. Thanks

  2. Would a six inch contour pan work?

  3. I'm planning to make a bikini birthday cake for my husband and I had a couple of questions (I'm very new to cake experience):
    1. I'm worried about covering the boobs with fondant and was thinking of doing it on two halves (relying on covering the edge with the bikini top). Is that a good idea?
    2. I don't have the oven-safe bowls but I was thinking to use the bowls as a mould for cake crumbs kneaded with chocolate sauce & cherrys (to give it thickness). This would be like what we call in Egypt "chocolate ball gateaux"... Would that work??

    1. Dear Veena... I find that your site is very useful and am not sure why you didn't answer my questions above on the bikini cake. I hope it doesn't have to do with politics!!!!!
If so, and you're not planning to respond, please do let me know.

    2. Hi Anonymous, Thank you for your inquiry.
I receive a lot of emails and comments on my blog. I try as much as I can to reply to the ones I can. Most importantly I reply to the ones that show me some respect.
I did see your comment and would be glad to help, time permitting. However if you read your comment you will see the tone of voice used does not imply any request, nor have you used the word PLEASE.
Now you send me a second comment and speak of politics? What politics? This is my blog and there is no politics here. You haven't even used your name under your comment. So Politics in what sense? Please explain.
I would be happy to reply to your comment if you re-write your comment requesting for assistance nicely hopefully using the words PLEASE and Thank you.
If you choose not to - I do hope you find someone who can help you with your query.
      Have a good day
      Veena

    3. Hi Veena again... Glad you finally responded.
I don't think I used any offending tone in my query; you can re-read if you wish. In fact, you're answering many other questions whose form of structure doesn't include the word "please" (same as mine above) :)))
Posting my question under "anonymous" is just the easy option I picked from the drop-down list available; if it bothers you, you can change the drop-down list... I don't think a name would matter anyway; it's more about the info.
Having noticed that I didn't put the word "please" or "thank you", you must've noticed the word that I put, "Egypt", which is the politics I referred to above. But I honestly didn't think it should matter at all... Apparently, and after reading your reply, it does matter to you.
Thank you anyway... I have solved the first problem by practicing and got the answer on the net for the second one... Will still be making use of your lovely recipes :)

    4. Hi Anonymous,

wow. "Egypt"? I didn't even think of that. First I'm an Indian, Catholic and I do not think of these politics - that is why I did not understand your comment. I believe in being a good human being first. Religion and country come later.
I have set my blog settings to US standard time only because some of the ladies from the middle east were not able to access my blog. I have a huge number of fans from the middle east and Egypt as well.
As for your comment. I did not say your were rude or offending. And yes, I have been having this discussion on my Facebook page about people writing without showing me any common courtesy such as 'please' and 'thank you' and I have now stopped replying to those comments as well as deleted some all together.
I'm glad you managed to solve your problem and get the answers for your cake.
All the best with your cake.
      Thanks Veena

  4. Hi Veena I have a question if you have time to respond I'd be very grateful . When you have said that you wrap strips around the bowl , would that be a large piece that covers the entire sides ( surface area ) almost like wrapping a tin in paper? Or does it actually pass underneath the bowl also ? Many thanks in advance
    Pat
