Send a request for my next blog post

Dear friends,

Please do keep me posted on what you think of my blog, my videos as well as my cake gallery.
I am very open to criticism as long as they are constructive.

This post is specially designed to allow you to send me request for future post. I would appreciate if you could use the comment form below instead of sending me a mail. I reply to all comments on equal terms as comments.

I have some request for gum paste flower tutorials but I think I'm still quite new my self in gum paste flowers. I'm not saying I wont' make the tutorial - I'm just saying I will wait until I'm more confident myself.

Remember I started cake decorating professionally only two years ago! So, like you; I too am learning with every day with every new cake, one project at at time. So please be patient and understanding with you request.

Thank you for visiting my blog.
Happy Baking
Veena

  3. Dear Veena, I have trouble getting a professional smooth look to my frosted buttercream icing cakes. I have used parchment paper on top and rubbed slightly and also have dipped a spatula into warm water and dried it to get it smooth but I still struggle to get that smooth look to the cake icing. Would you be able to do a tutorial or give me some ideas on how to get that professional smooth look? I would really appreciate this information. Thank you, Charlotte

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I think you are doing the right things. I personally do not do much buttercream cakes due to the weather in Israel. Most people like fondant covered cake here too. So I'm not sure I will be doing a tutorial on that anytime soon. Especially now in summer.
You tube has some really nice videos showing how to smooth buttercream but most importantly it's about practice. If I do a tutorial it probably will be in winter. I hope you will find one that works for you until then.
Do practice it and I'm sure you will surprise yourself.

  4. Hi Veena,
Your site has been of such help to me, I was wondering if you have ever done any of the Winnie the pooh characters and if so could you email me the tutorials for them ... I have been asked to do cupcakes with the pooh characters as toppers and I am not quite sure how to do them. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me and for all the help you have been so far.

    1. Hi Rhonda,
Glad my work is helpful to you.
Regarding your winnie the pooh characters. Here is a link if you want to do the gum paste version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIDV1iW-_y0&feature=my_liked_videos&list=LLLnFMwA6ublUD28VYawQYKg
If you want to do a painted version for a cupcakes topper on a round disc you can use my video on how to paint on fondant.
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG7jNuHSylQ
That video is very simple but the technique can be used to do a lot of elaborate designs.
I did my painted Cinderella, Dora and most recently the Sally from Charlie Brown as well as my Bakugan cake. It does take time and patience but the results are worthwhile.
If gum paste is more easy for you, consider doing only the face of winnie on the cupcake.
Always try to sell techniques you are most comfortable working with, in my case sugar models are fun for me. That way you are not stressed.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can further assist you.
      Best of luck.

  5. Dear Veena
I have been decorating cakes for 25 years. I love how cake decorating has blossomed into such beautiful works of art! I studied graphic arts then engineering then I married a baker and the rest is history.
I found you through linked in and Facebook. I am just learning how to use these as my friends are telling me I should for my cakes. So please be patient with me as I set up another Facebook account to share my cakes.
I would very much like to share with you.
I share your passion for cakes and Israel! I have been to Israel many times and I have friends there now. I would be so very happy to visit you some day.
It would be a dream for me to live in israel. And if I could decorate cakes it would be even sweeter!! Haha. I am sincere in my intentions.
If you have any technical advice for blogs and Facebook so I can start sharing our passion for cake decorating, I would be most greatful.

    1. Hi Angie, Thank you for your sweet message. It really made my day. One good thing about making a blog and facebook page is that you meet some really incredible people from all over the world.

I saw your website and I must say you have very beautiful cakes on your gallery. Face book now is definitely becoming a good communication platform for business as well as personal. I'm not sure how good your knowledge of computer is but the easiest way would be to get hold of a teenager who would love to get your started. You will be surprised at how much they know.

As for blog. That too is easy to do. If I was closer I'd invite you for a cup of tea and help you myself. Blogging is totally dependent on how much or how little you want to share. Some people like me write a post almost every other while there are some who write once a year when they have something to say.
Some are like me who love to share progress pictures of their work and some just share the end results. So it's all up to how much or how little you want to do really.
If you do ever come to Israel, I'd be happy to invite you for a cup of coffee with me.
Please do make a Face book page and share your work, it's always nice to see talent displayed.

  15. Hi! I enjoy your site. Your "Buttercream Rose Petal" tutorial was very helpful. I only have one problem. How do I do the back!? I've looked all over the internet and have found nothing. I really want to try this cake but I'm very intimidated because I can't figure out how you would finish the look. Maybe you can throw a couple of pictures in for a visual? Thank you for your help!

  16. Hi Veena! I am impressed and inspired by your site and your passion. My son's first birthday is 2 weeks away and I would like to bake him a numerical cake. Can you give me a recipe for the sheet cake and tell me I can bake one myself? I do not have any baking equipment, and will have to approach the local baker. Please advise.

    Best wishes,

  19. Hi Veena! I have been trying to do my best with making fondant cakes but no matter how much powdered sugar I put on the table, my fondant gets stuck to the surface which makes transferring it onto the cake very difficult. Can you give some helpful hints? Also, do you use warm water to have your accents stick to the fondant cake?
