Honey roll out cookies

I was once asked by some one if I could make some Honey cookies? At the time I did not have any good honey cookie recipe so I declined the order.

I never offer my customers new recipes. Unless I have tried a recipe a couple of times or unless it is my own recipe that I am usually very sure and proud of.... It's an ego thing with me and my recipe... Sorry- just the way I am.

My mom gave me a honey cookie recipe for my kids while they were babies. It was made with only honey, no sugar and minus the spices. The honey and eggs kept the cookies very soft so they were perfect for my teething babies.
I used the same recipes as a base and finally reached this versions which has since then become a favorite honey cookies even with family and friends.

Ingredients
Makes about 20 to 24 medium size cookies

1/2 cut Butter
1/4 cup Honey
1/4 cup sugar
1 whole Egg
3 cups of All Purpose Four
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp spice of choice. (Cinnamon, Allspice, ginger, nutmeg, Cloves)
Pinch of Salt

Method:
Place the Honey, Butter, Vanilla and Egg in a bowl. Mix well.

Add the Sugar and mix thoroughly
Sift the flour, spices, salt  together. Then add into the mixture.
Now use you a firm spatula or hand to bring it all together.
Divide the dough into two. Wrap in cling wrap and chill for at least 15 minutes.
You can roll them out using your favorite cookie cutters.
Click here to see how I roll and cut my cookies.

Once all the cookies are rolled and ready. Bake at 170C / 340F for about 8 to 10 minutes depending on the thickness of the cookies.
I hope you try this recipe. Please let me know if you liked it or not.

Thanks for stopping by.

Yes, you can bake it at 170C/340F for about 8 to 10 minutes depending on the thickness of your cookies.
I usually look for slight browning on the edges. My sons says it's not cooked is he doesn't see the little brown on the edges.
      Thanks for the comment.
