My First Gum Paste Tiger Lily

Today I wanted to share with you my very first Tiger Lily.

A bride asked me if I could make her some Tiger Lillie's for her wedding cake. I'd never made them before so  I thought I'd better do one for practice and see how I do.

She bought me a picture of the flower she liked so I tried to copy it as close as possible. Tiger Lillie's are bit more dark shade of orange but she wanted a more lighter version.

I showed it to her when she came to pay me her deposit and she was thrilled and all excited about her wedding cake. Made me feel good and confident.
What do you think?
I did not have the right cutters and veiners. In fact, twice I tried to buy them while shopping on line but both the times it was out of stock.. I made these from the Wilton set of gum paste cutters.

I also made some gum paste carnations recently to put on a single tier heart cake.
In fact I have two heart cakes this week.
One is a single tier Heart wedding cake and the other is a 50th anniversary Heart cake.
Will post those in the next few days.
Some of you are worried that I have not made any new cake tutorials - Well as you can see I have done so may tutorials for you that most of what I'm doing now can be done using those tutorials.

Next week I will be doing a Peter pan and the Pirate Ship cake and I plan to make a tutorial on the Pirate Ship Cake.. I have already taken pictures of how I made the gum paste sails..  I'm currently working on the sugar models Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and others.... as always I will share my work with you here... so look forward to that next week.

Well, you guys have a good day and
Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Veena,
That Tiger Lily is life like. I have about 500 veiners and cutters and don't know how to use them......lol
I get all my stuff from "Global Sugar Arts" and "Petal Crafts" both are lower priced then most. I shop around. Make sure they come with instructions. I have cuters and veiners and don't know how to use them. I really enjoy makeing peoneys and orchids. My website has some of the ones i've made. I'm also making shoes and purses. Your so great at everthing, i'm sure you'll master flowers fast.
