How to make Gumpaste Santa Claus

Gum paste /Fondant Santa
I'm in the making of my chirstmas cake and a bit delayed so I will post the pictures on the cake later today. However since I had a couple of request for a tutorial on how to make a Gum paste Santa Cause.
I'm posting those pictures for making Santa first.
Of course, you will need fondant in Red, White, a little black and skin color for the face and hands.

For the pants - Roll a log for the pants and cut them in between like so.. the shape them into pants.

Add white fondant strips to make the borders and use a star piping tip to create some texture.

For the Body - Roll a ball into a pear shape.

Lay it flat on the table or surface, and using your finger or the ball tool dig into the base pushing it upward to make a belly. This way you will get a flat back which looks better. Like so....

Using your ball tool again - dig into the top for the jacket to place the neck.
For the sleeves - Roll two smaller balls into sausages like these and then using your ball tool make indents to place the  hands.

Roll white strips again and make borders for the sleeves and  jacket.

Now start putting the body together. You can either put him on the cake directly or on a block of foam.
Use a cocktail stick or skewer to help secure.  I'm using a long skewer right through the chimney and the cake into the board,

Now, make your face as you would usually but without the mouth. Check out my website for video tutorials on sugar models. For the beard roll a ball of white into a tear drop then flatten the teardrop.

Like so. Using the back of your knife or tools make lines.

Then place it on the mouth and using a knife or tool form his mouth....Like so
Now add the rest of your details.. Hands, Boots, Hair and a cap. Use a cocktail stick to secure Santa's cap in place
Sorry, I forget to take pictures of how to make the boots and the hands but it's fairly simple. If you still need help check out my website for the video tutorial on how to make a gum paste man/golfer and you can use the same method I used there for the shoes and the hands.

I hope I wasn't too late in posting this tutorial.
Happy Holidays to every one..Ho ho ho.....
